Lavinia is a one-of-a-kind cashmere throw handmade by San Patrignano’s weaving team specially for C&C Milano. San Patrignano is a community, founded in 1978, that offers people with drug addiction the opportunity to rebuild their lives and reintegrate into society by teaching them high skilled artisanal jobs. The weaving workshop operates daily and is formed by 40 young ladies working on manual wooden looms to create bespoke accessories and fabrics using the highest quality yarns. C&C Milano joined this extraordinary initiative to support the people involved and create unique blankets and throws from cashmere and wool. Lavinia, with its icy tones of grey, is a light textured cashmere throw, extremely soft and airy, with embroidered details on the width of the item.
Lavinia is available in one size: 140 cm x 200 cm with 2.5 cm fringes on the width.
Cashmere is a refined fibre obtained from small goats raised in Asia; the best cashmere comes from Iran, Mongolia, Tibet and Afghanistan. The name originates from the historical region of Kashmir, situated between India, Pakistan and China. Cashmere is smooth, silky and velvety, giving a warm and fluffy feeling on the skin. This luxury fibre is obtained by combing the soft undercoat of the goat by hand during the moulting season in the springtime; the annual estimated production per animal is only around 150 grams. Often associated with wool due to some similar characteristics, cashmere is much stronger, lighter and can be up to three times more insulating than sheep wool.
